Why I’m not working for 2009-01-05 / 2009-01-15
- Google Giveth, and Taketh Away: Google Video, Notebook, Catalog Search, Jaiku, and Dodgeball to Shut Down
What hope did Jaiku really have? It never got past the invite only stage. This google pattern seems to be repeating itself, the same thing happened with Dodgeball. One positive to take is that the source code will be released under the open source Apache license. I wonder if this news will bother the Laconica team. - Does Mobile TV Have a Future?
I don't think so. The experience is currently not the greatest. Movies watched on my current mobile device. Zero!!! - Get your checkbook out – HeyAmigo.net is going on eBay
Hey Amigo the application that was blogged while being built is for sale. Could Ryan have stumbled upon a new business model. Hey we can all build a web app, but do we have the necessary skills or time to run one. - EA Announces EA Sports Complex for PlayStation Home

Facebook source code leaked
Part of the index page has been leaked and posted at Facebook Secrets.
Server configuration was the cause and nothing critical was leaked. I’ve seen this type of thing happen many times before and it always makes you stop and think; is my data really safe?

No posts in while…
Judit and I basically moved 2 weeks ago and the broadband has only been activated. Hope to start posting more frequently again.
Facebook Application Directory
Is this a good thing?
From a monetary position, this makes perfect sense.
From a user perspective, I’m not too sure. What I like about Facebook is the simplicity and the consistent look on each of the pages. I’m dreading another MySpace type site fiasco with pages that are widgetted to death.
On a side note, I’ve already started thinking about the type of Facebook apps that Imofo could use :)
Windows Live Hotmail is Live
Today sees the launch of Windows Live Hotmail, not a big fan, it’s very slow and loaded with ads.
I’m going to stick with Gmail. As well as the standard email functionality, it allows me to pick up and send pop3 mail and I can see my desktop version of Outlook being retired for good very soon.
Flash Video DRM is on the way!! Good idea?
Just picked up from Ryan S.
DRM who needs it? Flash, why? Because it’s one of the reasons that I hear day in day out alongside Accessibility for not using Flash. Accessibility can be done in Flash to a high level and I can argue for most cases, but when it comes to DRM I’m totally stumped.

Apollo has landed
Well just the alpha. So far I’ve only played with ScreenPlay which is a very basic drawing tool in Flex. But what brings this application alive is that whatever you draw is outputted to the desktop or application you have open with foucs. I could see this sort of tool being used for presentations. I guess you could take it further and output what you draw to some sort of web service or connected client. I wish I booked today off to get my hands dirty with Apollo.
