With the way things are in the industry at the moment. Maybe it’s better to just get your idea out there, instead of letting it fester in your head. Well done to the guys!

What hope did Jaiku really have? It never got past the invite only stage. This google pattern seems to be repeating itself, the same thing happened with Dodgeball. Part of the index page has been leaked and posted at Facebook Secrets.
Server configuration was the cause and nothing critical was leaked. I’ve seen this type of thing happen many times before and it always makes you stop and think; is my data really safe?

Windows Live Hotmail is Live
Today sees the launch of Windows Live Hotmail, not a big fan, it’s very slow and loaded with ads.
I’m going to stick with Gmail. As well as the standard email functionality, it allows me to pick up and send pop3 mail and I can see my desktop version of Outlook being retired for good very soon.
Highrise – 37 Signals
The latest product out of 37 Signals is Highrise. Highrise is an online contact management system. Too early for me to comment, but I’m going to give this a try seeing as it works with Basecamp. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Nice little service for testing your connection speed done in Flash.
Pictr
Need a profile picture for one of the many network sites and you are not a whiz with image manipulation software, then try Pictr.
I’m not a fan of the service name; To be a successful Web 2.0 service you don’t need to name it in the same guise as Flickr.
An image upload progress indicator would be a nice addition.
Maybe adding IM apps to list will increase the user base.
